The world Congress “Smart Cities Expo” is being held in Barcelona, Spain. The mayor of Kutaisi Municipality, Ioseb Khakhaleishvili is attending the Congress. More than 700 representatives of nearly 150 countries participate in this event. Kutaisi is represented as the winner city of the developing program “Mayors for economic growth” made by EU and UN, which intends working on the eco-smart concepts.

“We are attending the very important congress in Barcelona. We’ve met the representatives of the famous companies and world cities, who have the great experience of overcoming the variable challenges, especially in the field of Ecology. They’re working exactly with the smart solutions on the following topics: eco transport, mobility, air pollution monitoring. They’re sharing their renewed views, approaches and technologies, which we’ll have used in transforming Kutaisi into the eco smart city. Most of all it was interesting to meet with the companies using the solar energy and working on the waste management issues. That’s why it’s very important to participate in such kinds of forums, as we share and get to know the leading experiences of the world. Sevaral companies were interested in the current projects in Kutaisi, which will have become the prerequisetes of their interesets concerning Kutaisi. Our participation is one more confirmed example of the successful cooperation between Kutaisi and International donors”-said the Mayor of Kutaisi, Ioseb Khakhaleishvili.

The visit of the representatives of Kutaisi Municipality at the Smart cities world congress is wholly funded within the program “Mayors for Economic growth”.
