The National Association of Local Self-Government of Georgia (NALA) hassigned a memorandum of understanding with ten municipalities within theframework of the "Efficiency and Development Network" project. NALA held thefirst official working meeting in Tbilisi within the framework of the project. Theevent, which was attended by the mayors and leaders of ten municipalities ofGeorgia, as well as experts and researchers, was opened by the Executive Directorof Athea.The meeting was attended by Mayor of Kutaisi Giorgi Tchighvaria, who spokeabout the importance of measures to be taken to promote governance and inclusivedevelopment in municipalities with the support of the European Union. NALA Executive Director David Melua emphasized the organization's involvement in theprocess.As it was mentioned at the event, the research, which aimed to study theinvolvement of citizens in the development of public policy at the localgovernment level, was conducted in twelve municipalities of Georgia. At the endof the event, the official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understandingbetween the National Association of Local Self-Government of Georgia and ten pilot municipalities was held.According to the document, the project will work in Kutaisi, Zugdidi,Lanchkhuti, Akhaltsikhe, Gori, Ambrolauri, Mtskheta, Marneuli and Lagodekhimunicipalities, as well as in Batumi and self-governing cities. The Efficiency andDevelopment Network (N4ED) project is an EU-funded initiative implemented bythe Georgian National Association of Local Authorities (NALA) in cooperationwith the PMC Research Center (Georgia) and the Latvian Association of Local andRegional Authorities (LALREG). This project will be implemented in all municipalities of Georgia in the future.
