Kutaisi has won a grant competition announced by the European Commission under the Black Sea Basin Program, which aims to promote and develop tourism.
Kutaisi together with its partners - Moldova, Ukraine, Romania - applied for the project in 2019.
The project "Development and Promotion of Active Tourism in the Black Sea Basin" (EscapeLand) offers the development of cross-border tourism and cultural entrepreneurship to increase investment and the number of tourists.
The project aims to increase the active tourism potential in the Black Sea basin and the development of active tourist destinations, holding joint B2B conferences.
The target groups of the project are tour operators, local government and non-governmental organizations with relevant tourism and cultural activities from the BSB.
The project is for two years and Kutaisi Municipality will be financed with 147 068.26 Euros, out of which the co-participation of the city is 8% - 12 788. 54 In total, the amount for Kutaisi is 159,856.80 euros.
This is the second ongoing funding for Kutaisi Municipality by the European Union under the Black Sea Basin Program.
