Events dedicated to the memory of Olympic champion Davit Khakhaleishvili and the 50th anniversary were held in Kutaisi. The events were attended by the mayor of Kutaisi Ioseb Khakhaleishvili, A (A) IP Sports Facilities Manager Koba Pkhakadze, Davit Khakhaleishvili's family members, as well as veteran and current athletes.
Organized by the Association of Sports Institutions, an open championship among cadets was held in Kutaisi Sports Palace. Athletes who took the prize places will take part in the Georgian championship. A photo exhibition reflecting the sports life of Davit Khakhaleishvili was organized here.
The exhibition space of the Sports Museum was dedicated to the exhibition of medals and exhibits won by the famous Georgian sportsman at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
Davit Khakhaleishvili is the first Georgian Olympic champion to win the highest sports award on behalf of independent Georgia. Kutaisi judoka has repeatedly named his hometown and country on the international arena. It is a pity that Dato left so early.
