The process of rehabilitation of Rioni houses in Kutaisi will start soon.

The tender for the design will be announced in 2019 and the works will be completed in 2 years. Giorgi Shengelia, the head of the Municipal Development Fund in Kutaisi stated about it today. The head of the fund inspected the old Rioni houses together with the mayor of Kutaisi  Giorgi Chighvaria and Imereti Governor Shavlego Tabatadze.

According to the head of the foundation, houses will be restored in the historical part, rehabilitation will be done, the riverbed will be repaired, drains, paths will be arranged and the district will bring new life to the city, and will complete the tourist route.

According to Giorgi Chighvaria, this is one of the election promises on which the local self-government has actively started working with the Municipal Development Fund.

"We have started working actively, because we know how important it is to renovate the historic district for each Kutaisi resident. This will be the project of the century, after the completion of which Kutaisi will acquire a completely new look and will be one of the most interesting places for both tourists and local citizens.

Rehabilitation of Davit Kakabadze Gallery is also planned and it is important that large-scale projects will be launched in the city very soon.

The fund is ready to announce a tender, after which a large-scale project will be implemented. The guarantee of this is the state and the way we are on it, "said the Mayor Giorgi Chighvaria.
