The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan made her first working visit to Imereti region. During the visit, the USA Ambassador and her accompanying persons met with the Acting Mayor of Kutaisi City Municipality Davit Eremeishvili, the Deputy Mayor Irakli Karkashadze, the Head of the Administration at Kutaisi City Hall Petre Adamadze. The meeting was attended by Shorena Khukhua, the Head of the Foreign Relations and International Projects Department of Kutaisi City Hall. During the meeting, there were discussed infrastructure projects in Kutaisi which are implemented with the support of the USA government, including the ‘Millennium’ which aims the rehabilitation of public schools, as well as the project – ‘Participative Budgeting’ under the USAID's program ‘Democratic Governance Initiative (GGI) in Georgia’, which has been successfully implemented in Kutaisi for several years. Moreover, there were discussed business development in the city; the issue of legitimate elections; gender, youth and educational programs. The focus was on Kutaisi International University, which will accept students for the first time this year. Plans for the future cooperation were outlined. At the end of the meeting, the Georgian and American sides gave each other some memorable presents.
