The final conference of the project "Waste Free Rivers for a Clean Black Sea" was held in Kutaisi. Mayor of Kutaisi Ioseb Khakhaleishvili, the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mzia Giorgobiani, representatives of local authorities and foreign partners of the project participated in the conference.
The project was implemented within the framework of the EU "Black Sea Program 2014-2020" and aimed to improve the environmental situation in the Black Sea countries, reduce pollution of the Black Sea and river waste through cross-border cooperation between Georgia, Moldova and Romania.
The leader partner of the project was Kutaisi City Hall.
Several important events were held within the framework of the project, the most important of which is the first green waste composting center in western Georgia, which produces 2024 tons of compost per year. A compost building was built and basic equipment was purchased. Separated collection of plastic and paper has begun.
