Kutaisi City Municipality starts implementing a new project! For the first time in Georgia, a green waste composting field will be built in Kutaisi and green waste composting will start.
Piloting sites will be set up in different municipalities for the first time in Georgia, in the city of Kutaisi, at the municipal level, four types of waste will be collected: plastic, glass, paper and separate metal.
Hazardous waste collection will be organized in Kutaisi. Small and medium enterprises operating in the field of processing will be promoted. Within the framework of the project, Kutaisi City Municipality will purchase specialized equipment and other necessary inventory.
With the financial support of the EU Black Sea Program 2014-2020, the implementation of the coalition project "Waste-Free Rivers - Clean Black Sea" begins. The duration of the project is 26 months and the partners of Kutaisi are Ungen City Hall, Moldova, Tehnopol Galati Association, Romania, Imereti Region Union of Scientists "Spectrum".
The aim of the project is to improve the state of the environment, reduce pollution from rivers and the Black Sea by introducing modern methods of waste management and raising environmental awareness of the population.
Kutaisi will receive 418 618 EUR as a grant within the project.
The Mayor of Kutaisi together with the Deputy Mayor Nino Tvaltvadze and the project coordinator informed the journalists about the project. The area where the compost yard should be planted was inspected today.
