The memory of the soldiers who died on the day of the beginning of the Abkhazian war was honored in Kutaisi. Fighters and local government officials gathered at the Veterans' Square, near the war memorial, during the war in Abkhazia.

"The war in Abkhazia has left many open and unhealed wounds. "On the day of the start of the war, we came to the Veterans Memorial once again to pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country," said Kutaisi Mayor Giorgi Chighvaria.

On August 14, 1992, the armed conflict in Abkhazia began. The hostilities lasted 13 months.
