Kutaisi City Municipality got prizes in 2 nominations in the framework of the Best Practice Program (BPP) which was organized by the National Association of Local Self-Government of Georgia (NALAG):
1. Prize for the effective work of the ″Kutaisi Information Center for Combating COVID 19’’.
2. Special Charter - for good practice presented in raising public environmental awareness in the field of solid waste collection, liquidation of natural landfill and strategies of solid waste management.
At the third BPP National Conference, 9 municipalities out of 22 municipalities were selected as winners of the 2019-2020 competition and having a good practice which were selected by a specially created evaluation commission and the steering committee of the competition. The conference was held in two locations at the same time - in the hotels - "Biltmore Tbilisi" and "Hilton Batumi" in compliance with the regulations related to the pandemic.
The event was opened with the slogan - "A good example is contagious" by Nino Kavtaradze, the Deputy Head of the Georgian Delegation to the Congress of the Council of Europe, Member of the Executive Board of NALAG. Sozar Subari, Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government of the Parliament of Georgia and Mzia Giorgobiani, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia addressed the guests with welcoming speeches.
″I would like to thank the EU and NALAG for such an interesting initiative and for the implementation of this project. Such kinds of events are great stimulus for municipalities. Kutaisi City Municipality does not receive the prize from this project for the first time - we have won prizes in different categories in the past years. I would like to thank our team for working tirelessly, operatively and efficiently in the COVID19 pandemic period. We also helped the neighboring municipalities in this direction. This project allows municipalities to share successful practices with each other and make our activities even more effective’’, said the Mayor of Kutaisi City Municipality, Ioseb Khakhaleishvili.
