USAID Independent Living Program will establish an ″Independent Living Center’’ in the Municipality of Kutaisi. The center will be managed by the people with disabilities and parents of having children with disabilities.

Mayor of Kutaisi  Ioseb Khakhaleishvili met with Maia Bagration-Gruzinski, Program Manager of the non-governmental organization MAC-Georgia, and Davit Melua, Executive Director of the National Association of Local Self-Government. At the meeting were discussed the importance and perspectives of the "Independent Living Center".

 "I am glad that an" Independent Living Center "will be established in Kutaisi, which will support people with disabilities, their achievement and maintain an independent life. It will enable them to make better usage of their existing services, overcome social, psychological and physical barriers. "Kutaisi City Hall will support the work of the Independent Living Center as much as possible," said Ioseb Khakhaleishvili.

Kutaisi Independent Living Center also provides various services to other persons and families with disabilities living in the municipality.
