Kutaisi City Hall held a working meeting of the ongoing project "Kutaisi City Municipality Transformation Portfolio" within the second phase of the EU-UN Development Program "Mayors for Economic Growth". The meeting was attended by: Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi Irakli Karkashadze, UNDP Istanbul Innovation Hub Team Representative Iera Chang, UNDP Tbilisi Office Project Manager Tinatin Tkeshelashvili and members of the Kutaisi City Municipality Working Group. In the process of creating a municipal transformation portfolio, Kutaisi City Municipality is working to become a "Smart-Eco City".
"we met our partners from the United Nations Development Program. After the meeting, we showed the guests the sights of Kutaisi and the specific projects that we have already implemented to make Kutaisi a "smart-eco city". We also introduced the good practice of Kutaisi in this direction - rehabilitated buildings with energy efficient warming, LED outdoor lights, composting and separation center, visited a new transport park, Euro 5 class adapted buses, visited one of the citizens who has already used solar panels in his house. "Our goal is to make Kutaisi a healthy and comfortable place for our citizens and a city with good practices, both locally and internationally," - said Irakli Karkashadze.
The Municipal Transformation Portfolio is part of the „Mayors for Economic Growth“ (M4EG) initiative, launched and funded by the EU since 2017. M4EG has been operating since 2021 by the United Nations Development Program, in close cooperation with the EU, the local government and other partners .
